Under the Swadeshi movement, the founder of the group Biharilal Shah decided to establish the group’s first textile mill by the name of Ahmedabad Dyeing & Printing Pvt Ltd Commonly known as ADP; it had a successful run of 81 years and set a benchmark for quality amongst the various textile mills of Ahmedabad.
Post-Independence Biharilal Shah founded the iconic Rupam Cinema on the famous Relief Road in Ahmedabad. Rupam Cinema had a glorious and monumental run for 65 years and is still a fond memory for all of the city’s cinephiles. It boasts a proud record for having the most Golden Jubilee movie runs amongst all of Gujarat’s theatres and also one of the highest for theatres across India. Tickets used to be sold out weeks & months prior and the audience was captivated, their laughter and applause echoing through the theater as they thoroughly enjoyed the film's every moment.
After having a successful run with Ahmedabad Dyeing, Biharilal Shah chose to expand his textile conglomerate by building another textile mill in Lower Parel, Mumbai
The group’s love for Mumbai was further strengthened by setting up of Sion’s most beloved Rupam Cinema which had an outstanding seating capacity of roughly 1000 seats and ran for 30 years as a single screen cinema.
After several decades the group chose to venture into a new field under the leadership of Yogesh B. Shah by commissioning Rupam Petroleum in Dariyapur, Ahmedabd as an Indian Oil dealer. Since its inception the petrol pump has been running 24x7 for 365 days of the year and has been a benchmark in delivering both quality and quantity.
Vandan Shah solidified the groups’s presence in the field of movie distribution & exhibition. Today we proudly stand as the leading movie distributor and exhibitor of Gujarat with a vast network of over 300 screens.
Nandan Shah chose to diversify into industrial real estate and set up the group’s first industrial unit to be leased in the name of ‘Rupam Textile’. Today the Rupam group is an industry leader in providing rented spaces for the purpose of dyeing, printing, washing and laundry. All of our units are equipped with ZLD ETP plants ensuring no pollution and long term sustainability.
Rupam Multiplex was inaugurated with 2 screens in the bustling Rupam Laxmi Arcade at its pre-existing location after the iconic Rupam cinema bid adieu to the audiences in 2015.
Nandan Shah laid the foundation stone for the landmark Rupam EcoGreen Textile Park on the outskirts of Ahmedabad. Spread over 100 acres the REGTP boasts the record for being the first industrial estate of Gujarat to have a 6 MLD ZLD CETP. After the commissioning of the CETP the Rupam EcoGreen Textile Park is poised to be a benchmark for all other industrial estates showcasing a future of sustainable growth.
